The God Box, Pt. 2
On Saturday morning, I was reading Jennifer's blog and saw that she, too, has made a God box. As I commented there, I really love the box she made. Love that made her own art out of that SARK quote and tucked it inside the lid of her box. And look how creative she was--sewing up the sides of her letter and giving it traveling instructions. Love that! :) She got me thinking. As much as I like my little God box, it only has a tiny little opening. I've been writing down intentions on torn slips of paper, folding them and placing them inside. Seeing Jennifer's box made me realize I'd like to have a second God box with a larger opening for letters. But I went the lazy route. ;) While the laundry was washing on Saturday morning, I zipped over to the dollar store for a box and some peel-off letters to make a "God's mailbox." And, like Jennifer, I'm not a religious person, so when I say "God" I mean my own spiritual 'source ~ universe - spirit - whatever' kind of thing.
I love the dollar store! There are such treasures there if you just take the time to look. Or maybe I'm just an incredibly cheap date. ;) I bought a couple of other things and they're now sitting on the table next to my original God box and the new God's mailbox. I love sunflowers and ladybugs, so I couldn't resist this little teapot trinket. And I just had to buy the woman with braids. Remind you of anyone?? :)
Total spent: $4
Amount of Joy these things bring me: Priceless

After a gray morning, the sun came out around mid-day on Sunday and I just had to get outside. Jeffrey had the car at his gig, so I grabbed my camera, hopped into the pickup and went for a drive on some of our country roads. I hesitate to say that this was my Creative Every Day activity for the day, since I wasn't actually looking through the viewfinder while shooting, but I just love to shoot blindly out the car windows. Here's what I saw. It was also a good Sacred Life Sunday activity...window down...sun streaming in...surrounded by nothing but land...(inhale)...look out at the fields...(exhale)...
And I am keeping up on my "366 Days in 2008" pix. The first 13 are here.

I have to say I believe in the the same type of god as you, the one all around us, etc. The dollar store rocks my socks off!
I love her God box as well! and your treasures from the dollar store, super!
When I braided my hair las Saturday I thought of the same beautiful soul you mentioned.
When I tell others that they are in my prayers or I say God bless you, often I get a reply telling me I am not religious, LOL, neither am I, I am very spiritual, and I believe in divine energy and the power of asking and that's what I am meaning to say. And people is too funny, if you don't express, then you are a pagan.
Oh well!!!
I love your Saturday finds :)
I think I too would have had to get the teapot AND the cutie with the braids.
I'm think we should pick a national (international) braid day in honor of our girl.
We could all braid our hair, take a pic, and post it on our blog... how yummy would THAT be!!!
love to you today... sunflowers and ladybugs, it just doesn't get any better than that!
