planting redwoods
i've always believed
that ideas are seeds
to be planted and nurtured
and watered and tended
sometimes we point our
little seedlings out to friends
because we're excited
and want to share
our passion with
like-minded souls
sometimes our intuition
tells us to make it part
of our secret garden
that row of ideas we're
letting grow a bit before
we share them with
the world
and sometimes we boldly
announce to the world
that we're planting seeds
so big that they're
gonna give ol' jack
and his beanstalk a
run for the money
that we don't care
if you mock or laugh
or roll your eyes in
a disbelieving look that
shouts: yeah, right
if i were you i'd listen
to what we're telling you
because seeds
that are planted
with a passionate
belief in oneself
are the redwoods
of an idea garden
they're gigantic and
and majestic and
defy expectations
and walking among them
feels like magic
In a wonderful bit of synchronicity, it was only after I'd written this poem that I remembered that today is Saturday, so this is a nice tie-in with Metaphorical Magpie's Saturday Seeds project. And if you haven't read about her wish tree project yet, click here--there's still time to participate!
My Mondo Beyondo...here are the 8 redwoods I'd like to plant in 2008...
1. Write a one-woman show.
2. Rent a house in Fanano, Italy - this farmhouse looks good.
3. Have a coffee house/performance space/creative hang-out. I would call it "The Synchronicity Salon."
4. Own a Canon Digital Rebel XT.
5. Be self-employed.
6. Create a retreat. (Maybe I'll call that "The Synchronicity Salon," too.) ;)
7. Make a short film.
8. Publish a book of poetry with some of my photos.
I know several of you have already done Andrea's Mondo Beyondo. If you haven't I encourage you to LEAP! in, the water's fine!
And as if I haven't been showered with enough love and goodness already this week, two blogging awards were graciously given to me this week. But to keep from turning this post into one of epic length, I'll save those for Sunday.
Now let's go plant some seeds!

Oh Marilyn,
Thank you ,thank you, thank you!!!
Your poem struck such a chord in me, pierced my soul with a ray of truth and said..."Ahhh, so you are planting a REDWOOD!"
And yes I am... and I do not care if they laugh or mock or roll their eyes... this is going to be our year... agreed??
Okay, you need to know how beautifully you write, because there are so many times I read a post of yours more than once and just marvel.
Plus I truly love that your poetry has no boundaries, is not in a box and is not afraid to take chances.
You are so very multi-faceted, and I find you totally fascinating :)
And it always surprises and me that we artists have such similar vision... I had longed to do a one woman show for a long time, and realised that at this stage, i couldn't get through it without bawling like a baby.
So that dream is still to be nurtured.
I too want a 'Rebel', and to be self-employed (6 figure self employed!!!)
and have actually done a lot of legwork working towards the coffeehouse gallery performance thingy.
So with all that said.. it will be so easy to remember your Redwoods and to help nurture them with my positive thoughts, my love and my undying emotional support.
God I love you Marilyn!!! Rock On

xxooxx, love you!!!!
And what a great list!
