health care

Hey girlfriend!

I was wondering if you roller skate... sounds like you could use them!

About the Hillary and health care issue?

It sucks totally, and I do not support it at all.

Mitt Romney did it in Ma. (my home state) and now the state is a billion and a half in debt due to people being fined for not paying up... it is a very poor choice indeed.

Hope you have a glorious weekend filled with rest and laughter too!

Thanks for keeping us posted, I'm curious about the healthcare system, it never having crossed my mind how precious it is where I've grown up. I take it for granted. Wishing you a restful weekend. x

Derrick is probably the first person to explain a definite policy in a language I understand! You know, it is funny because before I moved to the US I always thought "what is the big deal with healthcare over there?" I grew up in a country (Germany) where healthcare is decentralized (state-run and private plans) and mandatory (deducted from your salary at the same time as taxes; the state pays for the poor and low income people), and then I lived for 15 years in a country (UK) where healthcare is centralized (paid through taxes) and covers everyone; although who could afford it also had additional private health insurance. The quality of healthcare (especially preventative) was much better in Germany than in England, but in neither country did I ever have to worry about whether I can go and see a doctor if I was sick. For all intents and purposes healthcare was "cheaper" in the UK but that was reflected in the quality. But like Derrick says in the video: everything has a cost and the money has to come from somewhere, nothing is for free.

This is an area where I disagree with my conservative husband, healthcare does need to be made more accessible to low income families and also less tied to the job. And I changed my mind about this after thinking about the healthcare systems I grew up with and lived with for most of my life.

Very interesting post!
